It’s that time of the year again folks! The dusty baby jokes have been thrown at me so much already lol. I’m still not moved. This month belongs to legends!
So, if you’ve been on this journey with me you know the drill. If you’re new, I have a tradition of having birthday reflections with different versions of myself. This year I’m packing my birthday reflections with songs. Here goes…
To who I was: The commodores - Still
I’m low key beginning to accept the one way ticket that is adulting. I’m learning to be kinder to parts of myself that I usually wasn’t towards. I’m telling that young(er) version of myself that “…I do love you…still”.
To who I am: Dr. Dre - Still D.R.E ft. Snoop & Tamia - Still
A lot is going on! A lot. Like my Zulu peeps would say: kuningi! So you’re going through exciting changes, uncomfortable growing pains and an overall transition that you still haven’t completely wrapped up. This past year has been nothing short of eventful and all you keep telling yourself is “…and even though I was close to defeat, I rose to my feet…”. Here’s to you dodging bullets and embracing miracles 🥂.
Through it all, you’re so appreciative of your tribe. Those who stand by you. Those who laugh with (and at) you. Those who show you that “…this love gets better every day….”.
